The Developmental Performance Workshop

For younger and less experienced students, this program focuses on Discovery. Conducted by local musicians and mentors on a weekly basis, these workshops enable kids to learn about and try out different instruments, learn to work together and to have fun making music, in many instances for the very first time.

“The JazzMasters Workshop Developmental program gives kids a chance to explore, experiment, practice and perform in a fun, nurturing environment.” Donna Ferraro, Executive Director, Boys & Girls Club of Monterey County

The After School Workshop

This is a two-part program that features established artists in informative and entertaining performances and interactive presentations, followed by intensive ensemble workshops. Every student is provided a rare and exciting chance to share in the rich living legacy of great American musicians, and the workshops enable students to hone their skills by playing with, and learning from these masters.

“Miraculous! Never before had youngsters impressed so many adults in such a short period of time.” Mathew Zagami, Principal, Clara H. Carlson School

The Jazz Workshop

This program focuses on Jazz Performance. It brings together top jazz musicians with young players in an exciting club-like performance atmosphere. In addition to learning new tunes and techniques, students in this program also learn the disciplines of rehearsal, improvisation, and performance by actually working and playing with successful working musicians in front of a live audience or in a recording studio.

“Oh, man. These young cats attending JMW programs are getting so good, it’s scary.” Mundell Lowe, recording artist, composer, arranger, educator

The Ensemble Workshop
