Morris Acevedo Biography
Faculty member of the Blue Bear School of American Music in San Francisco, Blue Note Music in Berkeley and the University of California at Berkeleyıs Young Musicianıs Program, Morris Acevedo maintains an active Jazz Guitar teaching schedule. In addition he twice received a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service to Jazz Education from the International Association of Jazz Educators (I.A.J.E.) for co- leading lectures on harmony and chord voicing concepts for the guitar along with author Brett Willmott. Morris is also the author of several Jazz Guitar lesson articles for Guitar Player Magazine. Morris has performed with a variety of Jazz and Pop artists. In the Boston area, he played in Harvard Square with Joshua Redman and was a member of bands like Ken Vandermarkıs Lombard Street Trio , the Either Orchestra, the Charlie Kolhase Quintet, organ Trio Be-3 and the Matt Wilson group. In the San Francisco Bay Area performances include the Scott Amendola group, Noe Venable and the Ruiners and Richie Cole's Alto Madness Orchestra. His current projects include Dam East which performs Morrisıs original music as well as Jazz groups like Letıs Cool One and the Gail Dobson Trio.
