The
business plan of the organization—developed and adopted by
the Board of Directors in December 2005—is crafted to enable
musicians in each community to take part in mentoring young people
in regards to vital life issues that music and the arts can address.
The new five-year focus is to empower local communities and expand
the program's reach using a 'franchising' model to assist
in development into new areas
The organization's continuing focus is to sustain the five ongoing
programs--and to develop new ones--in the Monterey Peninsula Area,
and to continue to retain a close relationship with satellite programs
in New York City and Laguna Beach.
NEW
AREAS OF FOCUS:
To offer expertise and assistance
in the program development and launching into new communities. Using
the program's resources, mentors, the proper site for housing the
given program and fundraising are among issues that will be coordinated
in concert with new partners.
A second focus will be
to partner with colleges and universities, using the students as
staff and bulilding program administration, funding and grantwriting,
and public relations into the existing curriculum.
The existing programs
on the Monterey Peninsula will serve as a training ground for new
program directors, and the administrative staff of JazzMasters will
assist in program development and ongoing services as needed.
