ROUTE 66 CHALLENGE...ONE MORE TIME:

A Big Success!!!

Cow Bop took to the road May 12, 2008 in support of JAZZMASTERS WORKSHOP (JMW)! Yet another odyssey down America's most storied road. This time they played concerts along with their trademark troubadour-style impromptu performances on street corners, in stores, bars, restaurants, at hot dog stands, gas stations and a variety of roadside haunts.  The Memorial Day Weekend crossing of the finish line at The Santa Monica Pier and the celebration at The Jazz Bakery put an exclamation point on the super-human effort! WOW!!

Why? To raise funds and awareness for JMW, to support the launch of new programs and encourage other communities to empower local professional musicians to make a difference in the lives' of young people. Why not put your money where your ears are and make a per-mile pledge?

As a first stake, JMW was awarded the prestigious Jerry Garcia Grant from the Rex Foundation! The $10,000 will be used to open new programs in Seaside & Salinas. "It is an honor to receive the award," says JMW Founder, guitarist Bruce Forman. "I can't think of a better use for this support than to reach out to some of the more economically-challenged children, those who can really benefit from our musician-mentors. I am sure Jerry would be very pleased, and we will continue to fulfill our promise and remain worthy of this funding."
